Celebrity encounter
January 21, 2009 · Leave a Comment
A long time ago I lived in Southern California. Encountering somebody famous was not very difficult. I worked as a door man in the San Diego area bars and met some local and national celebrities. I was also ferociously working out and would run into people there too.
Anyway being a geek and a family man and also living down in San Antonio, celebrity encounters are pretty rare. So the other day I went meet with a client and was peering into the iPhone and this truck pulls up..
Out comes Shawn Michaels, HBK – the Heartbreak Kid. We chatted for a bit (our kids play in the same soccer league). Anyway it was pretty cool to meet him after watching him on TV all these years. I had seen him at the soccer field but never said hi…
Other than that the only celebrities you might see around here are Spurs players, but that hasn’t happened to me yet..

Tom Hanks needs to lay off the Mormons
January 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment
From a FoxNews story:
Tom Hanks:
“The truth is this takes place in Utah, the truth is these people are some bizarre offshoot of the Mormon Church, and the truth is a lot of Mormons gave a lot of money to the church to make Prop-8 happen,” he told Tarts. “There are a lot of people who feel that is un-American and I am one of them. I do not like to see any discrimination codified on any piece of paper, any of the 50 states in America, but here’s what happens now. A little bit of light can be shed and people can see who’s responsible and that can motivate the next go around of our self correcting constitution and hopefully we can move forward instead of backwards. So lets have faith in not only the American, but Californian constitutional process.”
OK you know what I don’t get political on this blog. Everyone has an opinion and that’s fine. But celebrities should shut the hell up. What a dickhead. I remember reading once upon a time that Hanks was the Jimmy Stewart of our time. Well, Jimmy Stewart was a decorated colonel with combat experience in the Air Force. He would probably not go calling actual Americans non-Americans, but I bet if he had to pick someone it would be you Mr. Hanks. Where were you when your country could have used you Tom? You really have some nerve.
The Mormons have an opinion, they put forth some action and they got something done. It’s not a problem when you want to prop countless corrupt, or unqualified candidates or legislation. But I guess any opinion but yours is un-american.. Tom, do me a favor, get yourself a mirror and look at yourself. You’re the un-american. And while you’re looking you might catch a clue that your career at the top is over. Thank Goodness!.
TOM HANKS – Welcome to my grand list of people whose movies I will never ever watch again. But hey – There’s always that sweet TBS drama series option!

My Facebook Policy
January 14, 2009 · 1 Comment
OK,
So I finally gave in and did the Facebook thing. Maybe that’s how you got here.
I “twit” quite a bit, and I have linked that to my Facebook profile. So it will probably update all the time.
Friend Policy
If you know me, I would love to connect.
If you are some kind of spammer or marketer -
I recommend that if this is who you are, you want to spam, you want to market some trinkets to me, do not request to connect to me.
You cannot afford my attention should I become annoyed by you.
FURTHERMORE… I will continue to update much more here on this site and at www.broaddev.com (on technology topics), and twitter as opposed to Facebook.

Steve Jobs health issues – news update…
January 14, 2009 · 1 Comment
Apple CEO Steve Jobs takes leave until end of June; Jobs says health issues “more complex than I originally thought.”
Breaking news around the internet……
Text of Steve Jobs letter to Apple Employees:
Team,
I am sure all of you saw my letter last week sharing something very personal with the Apple community. Unfortunately, the curiosity over my personal health continues to be a distraction not only for me and my family, but everyone else at Apple as well. In addition, during the past week I have learned that my health-related issues are more complex than I originally thought.
In order to take myself out of the limelight and focus on my health, and to allow everyone at Apple to focus on delivering extraordinary products, I have decided to take a medical leave of absence until the end of June.
I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for Apple’s day to day operations, and I know he and the rest of the executive management team will do a great job. As CEO, I plan to remain involved in major strategic decisions while I am out. Our board of directors fully supports this plan.
I look forward to seeing all of you this summer.
Steve
Steve,
Get better man..

Christmas Day
December 31, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Well, it started out with a grouchy little wake-up call..
Eventually all the kids opened their stuff
Grandma and Grandpa visited early and a deer came by to say hi.
Then off to the park where Jr. tested out his new chopper.
And Grandpa played on the swings
Some eats and the grown ups watched Step Brothers with Will Ferrell. That movie had some good moments.

Christmas update
December 31, 2008 · 1 Comment
Well the wifey has been hankerin’ (did I just say that?- must be Texas), Hankerin’ for some Benihana. So Christmas Eve we rolled out.
Our chef was really good and did some crazy food-fu. I’ve eaten at other Benihana’s and other japsteak houses. This kid was the best. Jr. was checking out the show like the guy was a superhero. I’m gonna try some of those tricks with my barbecue tools-uh maybe not.
The Chow was pretty good too. Kids got a pile of corn (tip: its 99 cents!)
They forgot our green tea even if I would be the only one to drink it.
A little ice cream to polish it off:
